The Everest Region Information and Itinerary
The Everest region is our most popular trekking destination in Nepal. It is a difficult region of Nepal to access on foot compared to other regions, so a forty minute flight is needed to fly from Kathmandu to Lukla, where a small air strip sits on an angled runway at 2,860m/ 9,383 ft. From there access to the Everest region starts by foot, weather your destination is Everest base Camp, Gokyo, Mera peak, Island peak or Mt. Everest itself. Lukla is the quickest way to access the Khumbu but becoming more challenging with rising numbers looking to enter the Everest region. The Annapurna Region is west of the Everest region near Pokhara.
The Khumbu Valley, home to the simple warm and hospitable Sherpas is surrounded by some of the highest massifs on the planet. No wonder it is one of the most sought after destinations in Nepal for trekkers. Weather, you trek top Everest Basde Camp and its lofty view point, Kalapatthar 5545m or make aside trip to one of the lesser trodden valleys like Thame, Gokyo or Chukung, you will get to enjoy breathtaking view of panoramic Himalayan giants of rock and snow.Some popular trek we operate in Khumbu region include Classic Everest, Renzo-Gokyo-Cho La-Kalapatthar, Renzo-Gokyo-Cho La-Kongma La(Three cols) and Khumbila Circuit. All these treks commence with 30 minute flight from Kathmandu to Lukla, the gateway to Everest region by air. We begin our trek to from Lukla by following the Duh Koshi river valley till Namce Bazar 3446m which is the administrative headquarters of Khumbu and and main settlement Sherpa land. In all the treks we shall walk 5/6 hrs a day. It is advisable not to go too high quicly. Rather, walk at your own pace acclimatizing your body to the changing altitude and enjoying he scenery en route.
